Project Overview

The aim of this project is to prepare as a community for social enterprise. The range of training workshops will encourage a wider participation in community activities for a common cause. The focus is on entrepreneurship for sustainability.


Key Areas of Focus:


We aim to build competency in 10 key areas as identified by the community.
1- Traditional and contemporary arts workshops- teach toiora skills
2- Photography and videography workshops; Marketing and social media training to promote 'Destination Whananaki' and to showcase at the hub;
3- Rongoa workshops to learn about healing properties and produce services/ products for the hub;
4- Barrista training, baking, making jams, pickles and other products for the cafe at the hub.
5- Training on how to run a venture
6- Customer service
7- Financial Capability training
8- Social enterprise training
9- Eco tourism training
10- Story telling workshop series


Activities to Date:

-Confirming availability of facilitators

-Cordelia confirming Young Social Enterprise Leads and supports

-Identifying potential venue for Young Social Enterprise setup



Digital Story Telling

Champion: Shaun Te Pania
-Procurement of digital equipment (Filming and Editing)
-Procurement of outdoor screening equipment (screen, projector and sound system)
-Workshops on use of digital media equipment
-Workshops on design and production
-Story Board design and practice run
-Map out hikoi route of significant sites for the tour
-Filming schedule and filming
-Editing schedule
-Proofing and final edit
