Provincial growth fund application - Granted

We're very excited to share the news that Whakapaumahara Marae has been successful in their application to the Provincial Growth Unit for a grant towards landscaping at the Marae and adjacent to the marae. It was confirmed at an announcement ceremony by MP Shane Jones  at Okorihi Marae in Kaikohe that whakapaumahara will receive a grant of up to $340,000 for their Shovel Ready project! A huge thank you to the Whakapaumahara Marae Trust Board members for all their efforts and support to secure this funding towards the Redevelopment Masterplan.

The funding will be put towards fencing and entryways, reinstatement and redirection of waterways (to reduce the impact of flooding), levelling of land, tree felling, weed eradication and most importantly new native planting!!

As part of the agreement with the Provincial Development Fund the funding will be focussed on providing local employment.

With the Marae Stage 2 Redevelopment Plan works also inching closer, we are looking forward to a really productive time for the Marae in the coming months and into the new year ahead. Lots to look forward to and lots of reasons to come and be involved in what's happening.
